Dr. Lawrence Cannon, PT, DPT comes to Doctors of Physical Therapy with a lively perspective on patient care. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Eastern Illinois University by way of Western Michigan University following a Division I collegiate football career. It was football that helped spark an interest in pursuing a physical therapy career. Not only does maintaining a healthy lifestyle and time management play a major role in both professions, it was personal and teammates' injuries, and more importantly the rehabilitation afterward that steered him toward a career in physical therapy. He worked as a physical therapist aide for several years before advancing his education, earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Utica College in Utica, NY.
While Lawrence enjoys working with a multitude of orthopedic injuries, his primary area of clinical interests are the hip and knee. During his educational and professional career, Lawrence has been able to provide treatment for various hip and knee pathologies ranging from arthritic hip and knee pain to arthroplasties and various sports injuries. A great success story was assisting with the full rehabilitation of a professional BMX rider following a major knee injury.
His clinical experience encompasses work in various settings, including tutelage and mentorship from his colleague, Tim Rylander, PT, EdD(c), MPT, OCS, CBIS.
Dr. Cannon brings a unique clinical perspective to his practice and tries to intertwine a fun, enjoyable experience with his clinical work to create an excellent patient experience. He believes in educating his patients throughout their treatment, and upon discharge from care his patients have the tools to avoid re-injury. He is a constant resource to his patients both during and after their formal therapy has ended.
In his spare time, Lawrence enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He is an avid Florida State fan, he loves cheering on his Seminoles as well as his former WMU Broncos during football season.
