Dr. Brian Schuman PT, DPT, CMPT

Dr. Brian Schuman, PT, DPT, CMPT earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Midwestern University in 2003. His undergraduate work was completed at Lewis University, where he earned his Bachelors of Arts degree with minors in Pre-Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine and Athletic Training. Brian was elected to the National Deans list in 1999, and was class president while at Midwestern University.

 

Dr. Schuman strives to improve his skills through continuing education. He attained his Manual Therapy Certification through the North American Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy (NAIOMT) in 2010, and is certified in Active Release Techniques for the spine. He also attended training courses in Jones Strain-Counter Strain, Myofascial Release, McConnell Taping, Institute of Physical Arts, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Temporal-Mandibular Joint dysfunction (TMD) and SI joint dysfunctions. Brian is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Lewis University and Midwestern University, where he assists in the clinical training of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training students.

 

Dr. Schuman’s drive and experience has allowed him to become well versed in a variety of treatments for numerous diagnoses. He takes a very methodical and biomechanical approach in his diagnosis and treatment. He specializes in pre-and post-operative knee and shoulder dysfunctions including partial and total joint replacements, rotator cuff repairs, labral repairs, ACL reconstructions and meniscus dysfunction. Brian also specializes in the rehabilitation of complex multiple level fusions, micro discectomies, and spinal joint replacements. Brian is well versed in the treatment of HA, BPPV/vertigo, TMJ dysfunction and has exclusively worked with foot and ankle pathologies including plantar fasciitis, bunionectomies, 1st MTP joint replacements, ankle sprains and has worked with runners on mechanics.

 

When not treating, Dr. Schuman likes to spend time with his wife and three daughters. He enjoys weight training, biking, swimming, playing basketball and coaching youth softball and basketball.
