Emily Rimler, PT, DPT earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Michigan State University in 2003 and completed her post graduate work earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Oakland University, in Rochester, MI in 2007.
While completing her doctoral work she held clinical rotations at both private and hospital based outpatient orthopedic clinics, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and a neurological disorders outpatient clinic. Since grade school, Emily has been very active in sports and maintained a high level of fitness. Dealing with various sports related injuries as a youth sparked her interest in pursuing a degree in physical therapy to help others stay healthy and active.
Since graduation, Emily has been working in outpatient orthopedics for both private practice and hospital based settings. She has worked with patient’s ranging from six years old to ninety-six years old with a variety of orthopedic diagnoses. She enjoys working with post-surgical patients such as joint replacements, ACL and RTC repairs, as well as treating overuse and soft tissue injures. Emily is trained in the use of Graston Technique for instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization and also utilizes manual therapy techniques learned at Oakland University, continuing education courses, and from colleagues along the way. She believes that placing her hands on each patient is key to recovery.
Providing education and quality time with her patients is important to Emily. Rehabilitating an injury is a whole body process, and she believes it is critical to educate each patient in proper posture and body mechanics in relation to their area of pain. Emily understands that everyone’s time is valuable, so she strives to provide the highest quality of care to get her patients back on their feet as quickly as possible.
Outside of the clinic, Emily enjoys spending time at her favorite gym doing HIIT classes (high intensity interval training), running, and working on total body mobility. She has completed the Chicago Marathon in both 2009 and 2012, as well as 4 half marathons. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, sister, and friends and trying new restaurants in Chicago.
