Custom Orthosis Fabrication

Orthoses are made to protect, support, and encourage the recovery of motion. The orthoses we fabricate in clinic come in three varieties.

Three types

Static, dynamic, and static progressive

Static

Used for fingers, wrists, and the elbow to protect bones and tissue from excessive movement or stress, so delicate soft tissue can heal.

Dynamic

Minimizes scar tissue formation, stretches scar tissue and adhesions, and optimizes healing. Often used with tendon reconstruction so tendons move properly while protected from force that could damage the repair.

Static progressive

Inelastic components apply torque to a joint and hold it at its end range to increase motion, improving passive motion of a joint or joint complex.
