Specialty Therapies are a specialized treatment approach that consists of ‘hands-on’ techniques designed to mobilize joints, muscle, connective tissue and nerves in order to facilitate healing and restore function. It has been shown in numerous studies to be an effective and important component of treatment in a wide range of conditions, such as arthritis, tendinopathy (disease of a tendon) and back pain. Treatment may include moving joints in specific directions and at different speeds to regain movement (joint mobilization and manipulation), muscle stretching, passive movements of the affected body part, or having the patient move the body part against the therapist’s resistance to improve muscle activation and timing. Specific soft tissue techniques may also be used to improve the mobility and function of tissue and muscles.
Our manual physical therapists treat acute and chronic conditions in body regions including the head, neck, back, arms and legs. When someone suffers from a neuro-musculoskeletal disorder, an exercise and movement re-education program may be all that is needed to restore full pain free movement, function, and return to full activity. However, in some cases, soft-tissue and joint restrictions are present, which might result in these same exercises or movements being painful or even making the condition worse. In these instances, an OMPT therapist can provide hands-on techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, and restore normal function of the soft tissues and joints. Following these interventions, the OMPT therapist can prescribe and implement the most effective individualized exercise and movement re-education program to maintain and improve health.
Our clinicians received extensive formal education and training to be proficient in utilizing a variety of manual therapy skills. These skills include soft tissue manipulation, scar tissue release, myofascial release, massage, joint and spine mobilization and manipulation.
The clinicians at Doctors of Physical Therapy adjust the techniques to the patients’ needs and tailor treatment protocols to facilitate excellent outcomes and improve function. The therapist utilizes treatment protocols for patients with a variety of conditions including but not limited to fibromyalgia, spine disorders, chronic pain, and post surgical treatment. We take every step to facilitate efficient and effective care using techniques supported by evidence based medicine to provide you with comprehensive manual therapy services.

My Doctor recommended DPT for my physical therapy and I have been very pleased with my care. Jen is a very skilled, experienced therapist and I especially appreciate her level of education and advanced certifications. Having a therapist with an advanced level of education was very important to me. I have individual attention from Jen throughout my therapy visits and she is developing an effective home exercise program that works for me. Schedule is easy and I am able to schedule appointments around my work and family obligations. Location is very good for me also. Would highly recommend DPT for therapy needs.

Jennifer has helped me with flexibility, strength, and endurance. The procedures she added for me to do at home will continue the progress. I suggest you give Doctors of Physical Therapy a call and visit when you need help. They listen, and they are the professionals.

The therapist did a great job from start to finish. I felt that they did an amazing job preparing me both physically and mentally to get back out on the field. Being an athlete, I think it's important to not only get back where you were... but exceed your expectations for recovery before you head back into competition. As a college athlete, I was constantly asking questions and asking for ways to continue to be pushed. My therapist was able to help rebuild my strength and reassure me mentally. They were also very accommodating when it came to scheduling, often staying later than needed in order to help me. Almost a year later after the injury, everything is going great. My experience at DPT has been really positive, I am grateful for the time and commitment they put into my recovery.

The staff was great at explaining the exercises and walking me through them. Klaudia, the Dr. of PT was amazing! She was very kind, a great communicator and pushed me to my limits to help speed up my healing process. She and the staff really had a great way of making me feel cared for and a part of the family. Their knowledge on my injury was critical in helping me do the best exercises to heal my injury in the safest, fastest manor.

After my injury, I wasn't sure I would be able to finish playing my senior year of soccer. DPT worked with me and my school schedule and my goals to get me back on the field faster than expected. I was able to play in the last tournament of the year, and that meant a lot to me. Thank you.

Over the past several years, I have gone to several physical therapy clinics. At Doctors of Physical Therapy they created a program that was personalized for me. I received exercises and stretches to do at home, which really helped with my healing. I still do some of those exercises today as part of my normal workout routine. The staff was professional, friendly, and courteous to all of their patients. They were able to schedule appointment times that worked with my work schedule. Thank you for helping me get back up and running again!

Denise used something that I had never tried before at other PT clinics. She did dry kneading and it really helped. I couldn't believe how quickly it helped with my neck and back pain. Thank you Denise for all of your help!
