Therapy After Surgery

Physical therapy and certified hand therapy following your operation can be crucial to recovery. Our post-surgical rehabilitation helps ease pain, minimize scarring and restore mobility and strength to the affected area. Our experienced team can help you after any orthopedic surgery, such as a total hip replacement, total knee replacement, rotator cuff repair, extensor tendon releases, hip and shoulder labral repairs, and Achilles tendon repairs. We’ll work together to build a strong foundation so you can get back to living your life. We’re not just here to help you feel better, we’re here to get you moving again. At Doctors of Physical Therapy, we’ll be with you every step of the way!

Therapy Before Surgery?

Absolutely! Visiting your physical therapist or certified hand therapist before your surgery (often called pre-habilitation or “pre-hab”) can help speed your recovery time—meaning fewer visits after your operation. Even one pre-hab visit can help with pain and discomfort and provide you with the education you need to feel more confident about your surgery and physical therapy after surgery. “Pre-hab” is an excellent way to help you get better, faster.

Physical therapy and hand therapy can help with the following surgical procedures:

  • Total and Reverse Shoulder Replacement
  • Total and partial knee replacement
  • Total and partial hip replacement
  • ACL, MCL, and/or LCL reconstructions
  • Achilles Tendon Repairs
  • Hip and Shoulder labral repairs, replacements
  • Menisectomies and Meniscal Repairs
  • Spinal Fusions of the neck or back
  • Discectomies and minimally invasive microdisectomies
  • Wrist flexor tendon repairs
  • Ulnar nerve release

    And many more!
