“Highest-quality people providing the most evidence-based medicine that produces the best outcomes and creates the best value.”
Our CEO, every regional director, and every clinic director is a licensed PT. No business suits making clinical calls, ever.
We follow the research. No fads, no guesswork, just proven protocols that produce measurable outcomes for every patient.
Chronic or acute, we treat the root cause, not just the symptom. Manual therapy, targeted exercise, and movement re-education.
Return-to-sport protocols built around your performance goals. We work with athletes at every level.
ACL, rotator cuff, joint replacement, spinal surgery, we get you back to full function faster and safely.
Shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, wrist, our PTs treat the full musculoskeletal system and complex cases every day.
Nerve pain has a root cause. We find it and treat it, without waiting on referrals, imaging delays, or surgery consults.
Do not wait until something breaks. Our movement screenings identify weaknesses before they become injuries.
Every Doctors of Physical Therapy clinic delivers our four core services. Specialty services vary by location. Here is what this clinic offers.
Services vary by location. Contact this clinic to confirm availability before your visit.
Every clinician here is a licensed therapist, and this clinic has an unusually deep bench in hands-on manual care. Three of the four therapists on staff are trained in myofascial release, two also practice craniosacral therapy, and the clinic treats vestibular and jaw conditions that most general PT clinics refer out. Here is what that means for what we actually treat.
This is the deepest specialty at the Gurnee clinic. Myofascial release targets the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, which is often the reason stretching alone never quite fixes the problem. We use it for chronic tightness, headaches, neck and upper back pain, and long standing restrictions that have not responded to general exercise.
Vestibular rehabilitation retrains the system your body uses to keep its balance, which is why it helps with vertigo, dizziness and unsteadiness on your feet. We also treat TMJ and jaw pain, including clicking, limited opening and the headaches that often come with it.
Our clinic director specializes in sports rehabilitation, running mechanics and the shoulder. We treat runners through the whole chain, from shin splints and IT band pain to the hip and foot problems that cause them, and we build return to sport plans around what you are actually trying to get back to.
Post surgical rehabilitation is a core service here. We work from your surgeon's protocol and progress you through it based on how your body is actually responding, not a fixed calendar.
Nerve pain almost always has a mechanical cause somewhere else. We find the source rather than chasing the symptom, and you do not need a referral or imaging first to get started.
Heel pain, arch pain and tendon problems respond well to manual therapy combined with loading the tissue correctly. These are among the conditions people most often live with for months before coming in.
An occupational therapy assistant on staff provides lymphedema management and pelvic floor therapy. Two honest notes so you know before you book: lymphedema care here does not include compression wrapping, and pelvic floor therapy at this clinic is available to female patients only.
No. Illinois is a direct access state under the Illinois Physical Therapy Act, so you can book directly with a licensed physical therapist without a referral. One thing the law does require: if you come in without a referral, we notify your treating health care provider within five business days that you have started physical therapy. That does not apply if you are coming in for general fitness or wellness rather than an injury.
Illinois law builds in a checkpoint, and we think that is a good thing. If you are not showing measurable or functional improvement after 10 visits or 15 business days, whichever comes first, we are required to refer you back to your doctor or to a provider of your choice. That is not optional for us. If your problem needs imaging, injection or a surgical opinion, you should not spend two months finding that out.
Possibly, and that is a separate question from the law. Direct access governs what a physical therapist is allowed to do. It does not override your plan. Some plans still require a referral for coverage, and Medicare and Medicaid carry their own rules. Call us before your first visit and we will verify your benefits so there are no surprises.
Manual and myofascial therapy is the deepest strength here, with craniosacral therapy, vestibular and balance rehabilitation, and TMJ care also on staff. Our clinic director specializes in sports rehabilitation, running and the shoulder. We also provide post surgical rehabilitation, lymphedema management and pelvic floor therapy.

It depends on your insurance plan and treatment needs. We accept most major insurance, plus self-pay and DPT Direct (employer-sponsored) options. We verify your benefits before your first visit, no surprises.
Your first visit is a full evaluation with a licensed PT, not a tech or aide. We assess your movement, review your history, find the root cause, and build a personalized plan. Most patients begin treatment the same day.
Absolutely. Think of us like a dentist for your body. Regular movement assessments catch problems before they become injuries and can improve performance, posture, and long-term function.
Most patients see significant improvement in 4 to 8 weeks. Because we treat the root cause with evidence-based methods, our patients typically need fewer total visits than at other clinics.
