New patients
What to expect at your first appointment at any of our Dallas–Fort Worth clinics.
Getting started
Your first visit is a full evaluation with a licensed physical therapist. We go through your history, what makes it better or worse, how it is affecting your day, and what you want to get back to.
Palpation, range of motion, muscle testing, a neurological screen, special tests, and a posture assessment, so we are treating the cause and not just the sore spot.
You leave with a plan you helped write: how often you come in, how many weeks, home exercises, and what discharge looks like. Your doctor gets a progress report at every re-evaluation.
Hands-on care begins at the first visit, with an individualized home exercise program and goals that get updated continuously as you improve.
In Texas you can see a physical therapist directly. If your plan requires a physician order, we work with area physicians and can help you get one.
Treatment sessions typically run 30 to 60 minutes. How many you need depends on your diagnosis and history, and we re-evaluate monthly so you are never doing extra visits.
Before you arrive
Your physical therapy prescription if you have one, your insurance card, a government-issued photo ID, and any completed intake paperwork. Patients under 18 need a parent or guardian at the first visit.
If you have not filled out paperwork ahead of time, that gives you room to finish it without cutting into your time with the therapist.
Loose clothing that exposes the area we are treating. Shorts for a knee, a tank top for a shoulder, a loose shirt and pants for a low back.
All visits are by appointment. If you cannot make one, we appreciate 24 hours’ notice. Some late cancellations may carry a fee that is due before your next visit.
Evaluations and follow-ups can happen over secure video from your phone, tablet, or computer when coming in is not practical. Ask when you schedule.
Not sure yet? Come in for a free assessment of what has been bothering you. Book a free screening online or call 800-974-4378 and ask for one at the clinic nearest you.
