New patients
What to expect at your first appointment at any of our six San Diego County clinics.
Getting started
Your first visit is a complete musculoskeletal evaluation with a licensed therapist. We find the biomechanical dysfunction behind your symptoms, not just the spot that hurts.
Manual techniques normalize the dysfunction first, so you can progress into a functional muscle re-education program on a sound foundation.
You leave with an individually designed rehabilitation program and a home exercise program, whether that is surgery recovery, a work injury, or pain that will not loosen up.
Most appointments run a minimum of one hour. Stay as long as you need to get through your exercises. Many patients stay two hours or more.
In California you can see a physical therapist directly. Direct access means no waiting on a doctor’s order to get started.
How many appointments depends on your condition and gets set at your evaluation. We get you back on your feet as fast as we can, with no unnecessary extra sessions.
Before you arrive
Your insurance card, your doctor’s order if you were referred, and any completed intake paperwork. Medicare patients, please bring a list of your current medications.
That gives you time to finish paperwork and ask questions before your evaluation starts.
Comfortable clothing you can move in. Shorts for knee and hip injuries, a tank top for shoulders. Gowns are available if you prefer.
ProActive complies with the No Surprises Act. If you are paying out of pocket, ask for a Good Faith Estimate of your costs before treatment begins.
Call 800-974-4378 and our scheduling team will help you pick the right clinic and get you on the calendar.
